Comments on Lilypad City Floating Island Concept
Great-looking concept design by a Belgian architect shows sustainable living in giant floating ocean cities. (Read the complete story)

"Here's another view that gives you a better sense of the scale of floating Lilypad City.

(Lilypad Cities go coastal)

"

"Great idea - but will it actually float? And how much would it cost to build? And just how resilient are they to the current extremes of weather we've been experiencing? I'd love to know what the engineers think of this :-)"
(Jaya 7/23/2008 1:18:28 AM)
"The problem with your pad is there is corrsion in the sea and such a structure would be assembled and would fall apart as many ships do due to heavy seas. i think there is a better way. thanks kindly, RiCH"
(RicH Weinstein 8/19/2008 1:12:44 PM)
"it is a bold idea that should be investigated further cos the sea level increase seems inevitable. space is not the final frontier! "
(gerard 12/30/2008 11:41:19 PM)
"beautiful images but the design is a rip-off http://www.big.dk/projects/mer/mer.html"
(picolee 5/23/2009 10:44:05 AM)
"picolee - This is an interesting site with a lot of similar designs - you're right about that. Here's one of the concept drawings; see the rest - be sure to click on the first image! - at Mer Dolphinarium and Wellnesscenter.
