Amazing technical development may make routine identification possible from orbit. (Read the complete story)

"This reminds me of perhaps the earliest prominent use of a spy-sat in a movie. in "Patriot games" there is a very memorable scene of jack Ryan poring over spy sat images trying to find in which terrorist camp the villains are in. He finally finds a photo showing a woman sunbathing - the woman he saw take part in the attack in the beginning of the plot. Sometime later, there's a scene in which Ryan watched a real time satellite view of the special forces attack on that terrorist camp."

"I remember that made a very convincing display in the movie version."
