Comments on SpaceHouse: Jetson's Skypad Apartment
SpaceHouse, an ESA-designed structure designed for space is being examined for use here on earth. The German Antarctic station Neumayer-III must meet stringent laws intended to protect the Antarctic environment. (Read
the complete story)
"As inventor of the "SpaceHouse" I'd like to pint out, that the "SpaceHouse" is "relocateable" by heavy lift heliocopters. Main reason/purpose is to anable city planners to be more flexible then having cast in immobile heavy 'steel/concrete' composite ! "

"I could see an added advantage of a retractable set of roller wheels to the bottom of the pads just in case the terrain becomes unstable during a severe weather condition preventing an aereal lift of the structures to a more suitaable location...jj"

"I think the spacehouse is an excellent idea. wouldn't mind having one here in florida!

"Can it stand against a hurricane? If it can't, then it wouldn't be a good idea to have one in a place where a hurricane regulary visit.
As for the house, I think that its glasses should allow light to go in but not, it doesn't look quite good with the transparent look into it."
(E.A.C. 3/5/2005 10:08:10 AM) |
"I would ad horizontal roller shutters to the outside of the windows incase of damage from dust if it was on mars wich would scour the glass and make it into frosted glass at least.
It would be a good idea on Earth as well as a form of protection against bird strikes wich do happen some times for real like in the film (The Birds).
The reflexion off the glass atracts the birds. "

"I am profoundly deaf.
I am keen be able purchase this space house on Earth about the basic dimension of from 40 meter or 3000sq-m2 ?"

"this is a very interesting. is the project currently underway or is it just an idea. isnt there a house like this already built"
