There has been a lot of speculation about the best way to preserve essential documents; frankly, printing a thousand copies on paper and distributing them to a thousand libraries is a pretty good method. In the digital age, work is proceeding on digital watermarks that could provide a guarantee that a document had not been changed, but I'll go with hardcopy any day."
