"Much more direct equivalent is from one of the more modern Tom Swift novels. (4th generation. "Tom Swift and the Cyborg Kickboxer" if I remember right) In it, Tom Swift uses a computer loaded with martial arts data, a set of cameras hooked up to watch what he's doing, and a set of electrodes placed all over his body to trigger muscle movement for "instant martial arts master" ability."
