Comments on Rapamycin Can Repair Specific Learning Deficits
Interesting results may bode well for specific patients, as well as suggesting that mental retardation may be, in some cases, reversible. (Read
the complete story)
"Another book with something similar was The Speed of Dark, by Elizabeth Moon. (her son has autism, so she had plenty of experience) Tho in this book, the method they use includes surgery and hypnotic training as well as the drugs.
This is one area I pay attention to, tho, since I have Aspergers Syndrome, (among other things) which is a high level variant of Autism. I do _not_ want a "cure" for this, (at least for me) since it is an advantage for me, actually making me _more_ capable than a "normal" person as long as I don't try to use "normal" methods to get stuff done. The problem with many of the groups looking for "cures" for Autism, is that they also tend to be arguing for universal application of those cures once developed, regardless of need."

"Sounds very similar to the movie "Awakenings" with Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro."
