"It's great that this kind of application is coming to the iPhone. An application called Wikitude AR was developed last fall to run on a G1 Google Android smartphone. Here's a short video showing Wikitude in action.

"Brandon, that's a good idea. In fact, a quick googling reveals that there are some iPhone apps that do just that. One uses GPS and a database of 60,000 spots; others expand the iPhone's regular functionality. None superimpose it on the picture received from the camera though. Maybe someone knows about an existing app for Android or Palm (or iPhone)?"
