Comments on Bring On The Hush-A-Phone!
We've all read about the studies being conducted on the airlines, that perhaps one day soon we will all be forced to sit cheek-by-jowl with people who will conduct loud conversations on their cell phones. Isn't there some way to fend off this disaste (Read the complete story)

"had a similar idea to the hush a phone box for quadrophonic hi fi with a loudspeaker in each corner pointing inwards. lt never really caught on in the 1980's......maybe a revival ??????"
(col 1/4/2005 5:00:25 AM)
"heh.. that phonebooth on the shoulders is the dumbest looking thing i think i've ever seen."
(dep 1/4/2005 6:27:05 AM)
"Good thinking Perhaps not the smartest solution, but the problem do exist and has to be dealt with. Is there anyone out there who has an idea how to stop listening to annoying phoneconversations? Any???"

"We're almost going back to the Cone of Silence from "Get Smart""
( 1/18/2005 1:44:15 PM)
"Yes - but Frank Herbert coined the term cone of silence at least a decade before it was used on TV. Don't miss the hush corner, a similar idea from Robert Heinlein in the 1940's."
(ChiefTechnovelgist 1/18/2005 5:14:20 PM)
"The TV series "Get Smart" had a privacy bubble for secure conversations"
(Robert 1/20/2005 10:39:50 PM)
"How about filling their mouths with silicone rubber!"
(Zeke 1/25/2005 9:07:09 PM)
"WTF??!! most people i see on the cell phone walking around are completely unaware of whats going on in thier enviroment, all i need is to see some guy wearing that thing on his head walk right in front of a bus, or a speeding, blaring fire truck. here's a real simple solution to people yapping so damn loud on the phone. geta water gun. or a small directional emp device, aim it at the phone, it will either explode, or fizzle out in thier hand, end of problem."
(Q 3/16/2006 6:17:38 AM)
"Some readers might be interested to know that this device was central in the development of competition in US telecoms--AT&T tried to stop people "attaching" them to the phone network, and was eventually (not right away) slapped down with the principle that you can attach anything you want if it doesn't harm the network...indirectly led to the entry of MCI and other forms of competition."
