Tangible 3D Display: Reach In And Touch With Haptic Glove
If you long to reach in and touch your virtual world, you need the Tangible 3D display technology from NTT Comware.

The three-dimensional image is an improved version of an earlier display that shows 3D images without the need for special glasses (although only at a specific viewing angle). A pair of cameras films the object; this posititional information is translated for the haptic glove interface, which give the user the sensation of being able to touch the object.
Don't imagine that this technology will be marketed strictly to engineers and geeks:
NTT engineer Shiro Ozawa, who developed the system, envisages various applications. "You would be able to take the hand, or gently pat the head, of your beloved grandchild who lives far away from you," he says.
