Transparent TV From Active Inc (And H.G. Wells)
The transparent TV, a composite LCD display in development by Tokyo-based Active Inc may let you see right through all that stuff you see on television.

It looks like the transparent flat panel TV is an idea whose time has come. H.G. Wells would be pleased; he imagined it in 1936. That was the year the Things to Come, a feature-length film about the future, was first shown to the public.

I'm not sure whether or not the picture at the top is any more of a real product than the one in the movie still shown below it. Active Inc's composite LCD display allows light to pass through it. A crystal film supplies enough illumination to make images visible on the screen.
