Interactive Billboards Use SMS
Interactive billboards designed by Ogilvy use SMS to give passers-by a chance to win a Ford Fiesta in Belgium.

(From FiestaFun)
The system works like this: you send an SMS using codes provided by the billboard. The billboard responds, telling the user to continue, and sends a return message with a question. Correct answers cause the billboard to react like a pinball machine - an "extra ball" is awarded (entered into the drawing for the Fiesta). Incorrect responses cause the billboard to "tilt."
SF writers have long predicted the use of intrusive advertisements in our everyday environment. Nobody did it better than Frederik Pohl in his 1952 novel The Space Merchants - see airplane window ads (thankfully, they don't have these in planes yet).
Story from Ford Fiesta ad campaign combines interactive billboards with SMS.
