MP3 Player Jacket Has Control Sleeves

A jacket with a built-in MP3 player is available from Rosner GmbH & Co., a German clothing firm. The 128 Mbyte player (developed by Infineon) is controlled by manipulating cloth buttons on the left sleeve. Headphones? They're in the collar.

A small module containing the player and battery can be removed from the jacket, allowing it to be washed conventionally. The manufacturer aims its product toward "technologically progressive, fashion-conscious men."

"We think it makes great sense to build in electronics into clothes, and we are looking forward to develop further clothes with integrated electronic solutions," said Dieter May, responsible for strategy and emerging business at Infineon.

Perhaps he might like to try Larry Niven and Steve Barnes' sleeve watch, from their 1981 novel Dream Park.
