Blahtherapy - You Vent Anonymously To Strangers

Blahtherapy is an Internet service that lets anyone vent about their problems with a complete stranger; the site also provides access to therapists for $25 per hour.

(Blahtherapy can help)

BlahTherapy is run by and was founded (April 2010) by a single individual who has had moments just like you - where we really needed to speak to someone. Today, BlahTherapy connects you with random strangers around the world who are willing to talk to you about your problems, as well as sharing their own. As a community, we've found that talking through our emotional, psychological, or mental issues is one of the best methods of releasing our anger, stress, depression or pain. Sharing and connecting with other strangers who are going through a struggles just like you provides great consolation to anyone in need of healing or a friend.

Long before Blahtherapy, science fiction writer John Brunner had the very same idea in his 1975 novel The Shockwave Rider.

Stonkered or clutched or quite simply going insane, someone reaches for the phone and punches the most famous number on the continent: the ten nines that key you into Hearing Aid.

And talks to a blank though lighted screen. It's a service. Imposing no penances, it's kinder than the confessional. Demanding no fees, it's affordable where psychotherapy is not. Offering no advice, it's better than arguing with that son (or daughter) of a bitch who thinks he/she knows all the answers and goes on and on and on until you want to scream.

Brunner anticipates our national network surveillance by arranging for the complete anonymity of Hearing Aid users; the service was protected by a special computer tapeworm.
