      Tesla Diagnoses Itself, Sends Part Request
   
This is a pretty cool feature of the Tesla line of automobiles.

As far as I know, the earliest reference to the idea of a self-diagnosing (and in this case, a self-repairing) robotic mechanism is the self-repairing robot from WF Wallace's 1952 short story Accidental Flight:
 
 
He balanced the toaster in his hand and burned a small hole in the little wheeled monster. Tentacles emerged from the side of the machine and felt puzzledly at the damaged area. The tentacles were withdrawn and presently reappeared with a small torch and began welding.
