Reachy Humanoid VR Teleoperation App

Reachy bills itself as the first humanoid VR teleoperation app available on the market.

Reachy is an expressive open-source humanoid platform programmable with Python. He is particularly good at interacting with people and manipulating objects.

Reachy uses prepackaged AI, image and voice recognition as well as modular robotics to interact with the world around him. No need to train up the machine learning component: jump straight into any desired application and start prototyping.

Via Pollen Robotics

Science fiction fans probably don't recall the teleoperated mechanical man robots from The Ancient Brain (1929) by AG Stangland:

I went to the control room where the three other men were manipulating their mechanical men, doing various duties that could not be done very efficiently by automatic levers and relays. I sat before the mirror that represented the electric eye of the robot, and by various levers moved “No. 7” to take a look at the temperature of the electric furnace for repulsion tube No. 3. Everything was functioning perfectly. I continued to do routine work relative to the operation of the repulsion tube...

Of course, Robert Heinlein's Waldo is a very early example of the idea of teleoperated robots, if not teleoperated point of view robotics.
