I'm curious to know what happens if you fail the security check...
Star Trek fans may recall that Jabba the Hutt had something like this. When visitors come to the bomb-proof gates in the middle of the desert waste, they are met at the door.
This is a much more active sort of scan, since the guard dog robot might elect to pursue you.
Science fiction authors have considered ways to check identity; see the automated sentry from Darwin's Children (2003) by Greg Bear, and much further in the past, the selective electric eye from Exiles of the Moon (1931) by Nat Schachner and AL Zagat.
