Nokia Silence Booth - Shh!
Nokia creates at last the answer to our prayers - a silence booth for cellphone users. Not for us - for all those other people who insist on sharing one-half of their private conversations with us.
(Nokia silence booth)
The silence booth appeared at a variety of music festivals across the Netherlands and Belgium this summer; the last appearance will be in early September.
Nokia marketers intended that festival-goers would enter the booth and perhaps try out the newest version of Nokia's cellphones.
The rest of us are hoping that these devices will be installed in airports, hotel lobbies and so on.
I seem to come back to this problem repeatedly; see the earlier article Bring On The Hush-A-Phone! for a discussion of early methods to solve this problem of silencing rude phone users (not to mention Robert Heinlein's thoughts on phone privacy). From GI.
