NextFest 2006 Devices, Stories And Pictures
I attended the NextFest 2006 technology exposition at the Javits Center in NYC in late September; this wonderful event is put on by Wired magazine. It has taken me an unreasonably long time to post some of the pictures and stories, so here's an index of the stories I've written so far in one place:
This is a very cool item; fun to look at, fun to use and great to listen to.
The remarkable Robonaut telepresence robot is now available in a new form.
The innovative PEBBLES robot received a da Vinci award for adaptive and assistive technology this week.
This remarkable system can detect enemy fire, locate it, and even tell you the weapon in use almost instantly.
The Shadow Hand provides a very humanlike feel, due to the unique muscles that power hand motions; seen at NextFest 2006.
Very quick to respond, the only difference is the 'clacking' sound it made when it gestured; seen at NextFest 2006.
This fascinating and useful projects is both decorative and thought-provoking in its demonstration of energy choices.
The Bionic Dolphin is a remarkable submersible hydrofoil!
Very cool flexible (and I mean flexible) multi-touch interface.
Unique sensor-filled glove interface.
You saw it at NextFest - now you might see it in your own hospital.
Looks like those science fiction movies that depicted people in skin tight space suits knew what they were doing.
