Data Tiles  
  Transparent panes that contain data and programs.  

In the film, the data tiles seem to be used like high-capacity CDs or DVDs.

To move a data set or software application to the larger, wall-sized display, just move them over. Mostly, this seems to provide a physical quality to the data (which could equally well be sent over a network "invisibly").
