When mining the asteroids, it is useful to retire at the end of the day to one's plastic igloo.

The igloos were also equipped with airlocks. Go in the entrance, close the door, cycle the air, and walk inside through the inner door.
The idea of a clear dome is used in earlier works; see the moon dome from Ray Cummings 1931 novel Brigands of the Moon.
