- Gregory Benford

Video-Manicuring Program
Manipulates live video images in real time.

At present, it is possible to alter images one at a time with a standard PC. This kind of real-time image manipulation is not yet possible.

Lindsay had a brief glimpse of the man's true appearance - white hair in spiky disarray, red-rimmed eyes - before a video-manicuring program came on line. The program raced up the screen one scan line at a time, subtly smoothing, deleting and coloring.

High-end video processing can be done to colorize old black and white movies, and to improve the quality of old prints.
