Just a passing reference in this novel. However, I wonder why something like this is not available. Contact lenses are cheap; lenses are made that are weighted (for people with astigmatism - it matters which way the lens is oriented), so you could have vertical slit pupils.

Doesn't Professor Hooch (in Harry Potter) have pupils like a cat's? Not quite a trend, but it's a fashion eyewear accessory to look out for.
