"...being predictive, being right about the future, is not the point of any given story or novel. The point is about exploring as wide a range of possibilities as possible."
- Peter Watts

Coronium Ore
A radiolite substance to revolutionize industry.

The ease with which Captain Mansell and his assistant read their positions from the recorded observations on the Demson navigator's reeling tape did not erase the lines of anxiety from Shafton's brow. He could not forget that they were carrying the most valuable load of their time in the eighty ton cargo of coronium ore, the strange radiolite substance that would revolutionise industry... Nor had the discovery of this valuable substance on the Company's moon mines been generally known.

According to the dictionary, "radiolite" means "A form of igneous rock that has a radial, fanlike texture of crystals". Science fiction fans think immediately of fanmetal from Frank Herbert's 1965 novel Dune.
