Electro-Binox
  Binoculars with electronic focusing.

I recalled Federico’s pantomime and the “dig and delve” chant, and I found myself shivering at being near a 40-kilometer Hole up which — my childish imagination insisted — the dragon of gravity might crawl and come to hunt me down, suck me from any hiding place and crush me flat against him.
