"In 1970 I found little difficulty staying 30 years ahead of the man in the street, and now I find it difficult to stay 18 months ahead of the man on the street."
- Vernor Vinge

Magnetized Boots
Special shoes to allow walking in and around a metal ship with no artificial gravity.

This is a relatively early reference - I'm still hunting for earlier ones.

He had found some concentrated rations meant for the cell occupants, a full tank of water, and four space overalls, complee with magnetized boots and glassite helmets.

"Overrallss, sskipperr!" exclaimed Xonzak. "The bootss will ssolve on problem - lack of gravity need not count now-"

...the four conscious men donned the magnetized boots and at once were able to stand up on the metal floor with a sense of weight and balance.

See also the magnetic shoes from Murray Leinster's 1953 novel Space Tug and the grip shoes from the 1968 movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Also, a very early reference, the magnetic boots from Salvage in Space (1933) by Jack Williamson.
