Automatic Toll Payment  
  An automated car that pays its own toll.  

This is probably the first reference to this idea.

Poorson went to the left of the front car, pulled out a sliding arm, put 10 $.50 pieces in a pocket at the end of it.

"That pays for the gas, toll, and ferry charges," he remarked.
