"[Science fiction is ] That branch of literature which is concerned with the impact of scientific advance upon human beings."
- Isaac Asimov

Jumble-Box
A device that jumbles sensory input.

Mark had stood nearby with a small metal case in his hand, turning something on the face of the unit...

"How do you feel," the large man asked... "You screamed a lot."

"I know. Some were red, but most were blue."

"The screams?"

"Yes. And I could smell them... I tasted the colors too, and the sounds... What do you call the thing that did it."

"For want of a better name, I call it a jumble-box. It smears your sensory input, mixes them. Instant synesthesia."
